“Shirley” was surprised when her mortgage request was declined at her local branch. She’d been a client of the bank for many years and to the best of her knowledge was not a bad credit risk.
Her brother, a former colleague of Scott, suggested a call to him.
Scott pointed out when they met that the discretionary power of the local branch of high street lenders disappeared many years ago and that they are unable to recommend alternative products that might be better suited to a borrower’s needs.
Ironically after comparing various products Scott was able to arrange a mortgage for Shirley with the same bank.
